Four examples of gynandromorph (dual-sex) butterflies and moths. Gynandromorphs are organisms which display both male and female physical characteristics, as seen here in the wings of each insect. 

And it is not only the wings that are affected. The insect’s body is split in two, its sexual organs are half and half, and even its antennae are different lengths.

This rare sexual chimera is caused when the sex chromosomes fail to separate during fertilisation.
