iirc it’s usually the males of half breeds that are infertile. The females are sometimes able to breed, but because the males of their species cannot, they have to mate with a full breed.
In this case of the liliger, it was another lion. So this little baby is 3/4 lion, 1/4 tiger. What a cutie.
