So today is Palm Sunday and they recounted the condemnation of Jesus at mass and I just realized that the entire story is a warning against allowing religious leaders to interfere in affairs of the state BECAUSE

IF THEY’D JUST LET THE POLITICAL LEADERS AND JUDGES AND SUCH HANDLE JESUS’ CASE HE’D HAVE BEEN FREED WITHOUT ANY CHARGES WHATSOEVER 

It wasn’t Pilate who made Jesus get tortured and murdered–it was the religious leaders, pharisees and scribes, and the people they incited, ie their religious followers, who did it

And like I don’t know how this irony is lost on every single religious leader in this country who insists their beliefs are more important than the welfare of human beings under the state, I really do not

So the entire passion of Christ is a lesson against organized religion since organized religion is the reason Jesus got tortured and murdered
